Preservation and Sustainability

On the farm we raise a variety of different livestock and poultry, our main focus being the preservation of rare and heritage breeds. Our breeding programs are focused on producing exemplary specimens, closely matching their written standards taking into account excellent health, temperament, and production values . We hope that by raising these unique animals we can ensure their continued success for many future generations to enjoy.

We take the care and well-being of our farm animals very seriously, we do our best to ensure they live long healthy lives through careful management practices, excellent nutrition and regular attention to husbandry. Along with our livestock and poultry projects we also do our best to live a more sustainable lifestyle - all the while enjoying the simpler things in life!

We Raise the Following Breeds of Livestock & Polutry:

We had a great time at ARBA Convention 2011 in Indianapolis!
We're excited to welcome a new rare and heritage rabbit reed to the farm, a beautiful and gentle breeding pair of Creme D'Argents. We look forward to learning more about this breed, a truly multipurpose animal that can be used for meat, show, fur and companionship.

Our Rhinelanders did decently considering the stiff competition on the show table. We have cut our Rhinelander breeding program back significantly to focus on the new Cremes but will continue to raise Rhinelanders in a limited capacity. We are thrilled to congratulate Lorena Ferchaud on her accomplishment of getting the blue Rhinelander variety accepted by the standards committee, we have a blue in the barn and a few blue carriers so we hope to contribute to the new variety in the coming months.

We have our winter rabbit litters planned and more information can be found in the rabbit section along with updated photos of some of our rabbits and a whole new section dedicated to the Cremes that isn't quite finished yet but will be soon.

In goat news, the bucks are currently in full rut and the does are dried off and starting to come into heat. We hope to get most of the does bred later this November and early December. This spring will mark our first year for fainting goat kids. Check out the kidding schedule in the goat section for more information on our planned pairings.
