More About the Farm My
name is Whitney, and I run Imagination Acres Hobby Farm! I purchased the property in February of 2009 and have been hard at work improving it since. Imagination Acres is located in Spotsylvania County, Virginia right on the Orange County line, in fact the 20 acre property ends right on the boundary between the counties. My property has a nice cleared area surrounded by a large amount of forest where lots of wildlife wander. There is a stream on the property, an abundance of oak trees, and a long trail that runs through a portion of the property. The farm animals who make their homes here are very important. Rabbits are the core of the farm, they are where my dream of living in the country came from. At the moment both of the breeds I raise are considered rare; Belgian Hares and Rhinelanders are beautiful "arched," typed rabbits with engaging, curious personalities. Along with the bunnies the farm is also home to flock of assorted poultry and a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf Dairy goats. The health, care and general well being of the animals is very important to me, the poultry are all cage free, and range across the property, doing what they do best, scratching, pecking and stretching their wings. The goats have access to a generous paddock space and are frequently take on walks and trips throughout the woods for additional browsing and exercise opportunities. The rabbits, while caged have large enclosures and each get frequent turnouts in safe outdoor and indoor exercise pens. All animals are fed nutritious feeds and hays appropriate for their species, and they are all handled and interacted with on a daily basis ensuring outgoing and friendly personalities! Every day on the farm is one I am extremely thankful for, dreams really do come true! |
