The Farm Guards![]() Life on the farm can be unpredictable and with vulnerable livestock and poultry around its important to keep them safe from predation. Thankfully I have my "farm guards," to keep both myself and my critters safe and sound. The American Pit Bull Terrier is one of my favorite dog breeds and I am proud to be a mom to 2 of my own pit bulls. Pit Bulls are tenacious, active, loyal, outgoing, playful, goofy, sweet dogs. They have a very bad reputation and I work hard to change people's opinions of them. Pits are not for the average dog owner, they are "alot," of dog and dog aggression can be a very serious problem for the breed. My active lifestyle matches the needs of pit bulls very well. If you're considering getting a pit or have questions about pit bulls I'd be happy to try and help, please e-mail me with your questions. My 2 pit bulls are excellent, sound representatives of the breed, each is a unique "style," of pit bull but they are the same in spirit; faithful companions to me and all the farm animals. ![]() Pepper is a spayed 2 year old seal(black) and white American Pit Bull Terrier, she is registered and a true "working," pit bull. Pepper is a more classic "game," styled pit, she weighs about 40 lbs and is much more terrier in conformation than bully. She is extremely agile and athletic. She enjoys playing fetch with tennis balls and chewing on nylabones or kongs. Pepper is a very driven dog and can do a variety of tricks and knows many different commands. Pepper is generally dog social, she loves the livestock on the farm and is quite the cuddler. Pepper is training for agility and will hopefully start weight pull training soon. ![]() Reuben is a neutered 1 and a half year old blue fawn and white registered American Pit Bull Terrier. Reuben is a more "new school," pit bull, he is much more bully although not the extreme "low rider," versions you see now a days, but definitely a stocky solid fellow, he weighs about 63 lbs. Reuben is an extremely mellow dog most of the time, he is content to find a nice patch of sun to rest in and watch the clouds float by, on occasion he will chase butterflies. Reuben is excellent with the farm animals and takes on a "nanny" like role with baby chicks, goats, and rabbits. Reuben does like to play rough with other dogs, and is dog selective when it comes to greeting strange dogs. Reuben is a licker and his worst habit is licking everyone he meets. Reuben is currently working on obedience training, due to weak joints he will not be doing any dog sports. In the past I have fostered with a local pit bull rescue Bully Paws. While I am not fostering at this time I am generally supportive of rescue efforts for the breed and commend those who take the time and have the dedication to serve these wonderful animals. |
